Join author Sean Arthur Joyce as he screens a performance video of the Prologue to his new book, Dead Crow & the Spirit Engine, followed by an interview with the author by renowned Canadian poet Tom Wayman. Too often the term ‘myth’ is mistakenly equated with ‘falsehood.’ Learn how mythology has an ancient pedigree that not only forms the basis of consciousness but also underpins all our literature and storytelling. Sean Arthur Joyce, also known as Art Joyce, is the author of three titles of Western Canadian history, four collections of poetry, and a novel, Mountain Blues (NeWest Press 2018). His creative nonfiction history Laying the Children’s Ghosts to Rest: Canada’s Home Children in the West (Hagios Press 2014/Radiant Press 2017) reviews consistently at four stars on Goodreads. Joyce’s poems and essays on poetics have been published in literary journals and anthologies in Canada, the US and the UK. New Orphic Publishers of Nelson, BC published his poetry collections The Charlatans of Paradise, Star Seeds and The Price of Transcendence, each of which went into two editions. Dead Crow & the Spirit Engine (Chameleonfire Editions 2020) is his 8th book and has been produced as a live touring show with the author in the lead role.
